Service times change in St.Oswald’s

Please note that the services of Morning Prayer during the week in St.Oswald’s will now be at 9.00am rather than 8.30.

New curate

On 1st July, Amanda Marshall, our new curate, will be ordained in Derby Cathedral: please pray for her and her family.

Welcoming Amanda

On Sunday 8th we’re calling all our churches together to welcome Amanda - so the only service on the morning of the 8th will be at 10.30am in St Oswald’s. (No village services, no 8am service in St.Oswald’s). This will be a proper Group service, not just a St.Oswald’s one: people from all our churches will be helping in the service with readings etc.

Choral Evensong in St.Oswald’s will continue as normal.

Free Lunchtime Recital Delights at St. Oswald’s Church

12.00 for 30-45 minutes plus light bites

Wednesday 27th June: Organ Recital given by Hugh Morris, Director of Music at Derby Cathedral and soon to be Director of the RSCM.

His recital will include music for all tastes. Please come and bring someone with you.

Wednesday 4th July: Musicians from QEGS sixth form

Be astounded at the very real talent we have amongst our young people. Please come and encourage.

Donations will be for St. Oswald’s Church charities for 2018

Guests in St.Oswald’s

On the afternoon of 1st July St Oswald’s will be hosting the Methodist ordinations at 4pm (so no Evensong that day).

Afternoon Tea

I am hosting, with the help of Inner Wheel of Ashbourne, an Afternoon Tea in memory of my mother, Eleanor, on Sunday 22nd July at my home, 118 The Green Road Ashbourne, starting at 3.00 pm to which everyone is invited. There is no charge but donations can be given either to St.Oswald’s Church, where my Mother worshipped for over 60 years or to the Royal Derby Breast Clinic (President of Inner Wheel’s Charity - my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 96.) To help with catering, please let me know if you are able to come. I would also like to thank everyone for their kindness and support both at the time of my Mother’s death and during the last 2 years of her life.    Celia Yates

On offer

Three large screens with stands, 6'6" tall x 3-4'wide, light green fabric on both sides. Stands not wheels. They will deliver.

I think they could also be used as display boards using sticky backed velcro.

Any interest?

Funny what you pick up on a bank holiday!             Carollyn

Ceramic congregation & Communion

Watch out for 5,500 clay figures around the high altar in St.Oswald’s. We shall receive communion standing up during the summer services: process to the altar in a single stream and alternate left and right to receive wine after bread.
